George Dickel® Tennessee Sippin’ Whisky Cake
Recipe courtesy of thebar.com
Don’t just let them eat cake. Let them eat whisky cake. You can’t go wrong with this sugar glazed, whisky goodness. Your first bite will introduce your taste buds to a moist yellow cake with a vanilla accent, followed by a George Dickel® Whisky chaser.
Ingredients
For cake
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 box yellow cake mix
1 6 1/2 to 7 ounce package instant vanilla pudding mix
1⁄2 cup cold water
1⁄2 cup corn oil
4 large eggs, room temperature
1⁄2 cup George Dickel® Tennessee Whisky
Sugar Glaze
1 stick unsalted butter
1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons George Dickel® Tennessee Whisky
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325°. Grease and flour a 10-inch bunt pan. Sprinkle chopped nuts over bottom of pan. Thoroughly mix all remaining cake ingredients together. Pour batter over nuts. Bake until a tester inserted into the cake comes out clean, about 1 hour. Let cake cool and invert onto serving dish.
For Glaze: Melt butter in a small saucepan. Blend in sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and slowly stir in whisky.
With toothpick, prick top of cake. Slowly pour small amount of glaze over top and sides, allowing cake to completely absorb glaze; repeat until all glaze is used.
TIP: Try making this cake a day or two before your party. The flavor will deepen and make it that much richer.
